III. Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
The Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratories for Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Advanced Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry,Chemistry of Bulk Drugs and Chemistry of Natural Products are focused on simple compound analysis to complex multi step Synthesis/process development of new or existing drugs, and metabolic studies on drugs.
IV. Department of Pharmacognosy
Sustainability of human life is unimaginable without medicinal plants. India has rich heritage of medicinal plants passed on from thousands of generations. This department has the expertise for the Identification of plant drugs and extraction of active ingredients from plants/mixtures
MEDICINAL GARDEN
We have established an arboretum of medicinal plants in the campus. The objective of establishing this garden is to maintain a conservatory of the most common and important species of medicinal and aromatic plants which are being used in day-to- day primary health care. All the plant species were authentically identified by expert taxonomists, labeled and in many cases their therapeutic values in curing different diseases are also highlighted.
V. Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis
MAJOR INSTRUMENTS:
UV- Visible spectrophotometer | Flourimeter | Nephlometer | Colorimeter | Analytical balance.
AREAS OF RESEARCH
Pharmaceutical Analysis is an integral part of the activities of pharmaceutical research and development as well as manufacturing and regulatory affairs. There is a great demand for trained personnel in this field. To meet these requirements the Department has well trained faculty and expertise for carrying out research work. Some of the areas of expertise include:
-
Analytical method development and validation
-
Spectrophotometric Multicomponent analysis
-
Stability indicating methods
-
Herbal and Phytochemical analysis
